Fort Worth Shooting Death of Estevan Xavier Ramirez – Obituary

18-year-old Estevan Xavier Ramirez of Fort Worth has died after Lake Worth police shot him while he was armed with a gun. It happened on Friday, September 3, 2021, after 2 a.m. following a chase into Fort Worth. According to official reports, Ramirez was in an overspeeding vehicle on I-820. An officer attempted to stop the car but the driver turned off the headlamps and sped into Fort Worth.

The police were informed by another law enforcement agency that the people in the vehicle were armed and dangerous. As the pursuit proceeded, the vehicle that Ramirez was in struck something on Interstate 30 as it exited at Horne Street, leaving it with a flat tire.

The vehicle continued until a few blocks later, at which point three people inside scampered about. Ramirez tripped and fell. While on the ground, police noticed he was holding a gun which he pointed at the officers.

The officers opened fire at him, giving him serious gunshot wounds. He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The other two suspects remain on the run.

The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave as investigations proceed.
