Suffolk Car Crash Death of Soraida Polanco of Brentwood – Obituary
57-year-old Soraida Polanco of Brentwood has died in a fatal Suffolk car crash that occurred on Saturday, October 2, 2021. It happened at about 9:40 p.m. when the Toyota Camry she was in was rear-ended by a 2014 Acura TL that was traveling east on Second Avenue.
Upon impact, the Camry was forced into oncoming traffic where it was struck by a 2021 Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep hit the passenger side of the Camry, leaving Soraida with serious injuries. She was taken to South Shore University Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
59-year-old Rodolfo Polanco, who was Soraida’s husband, sustained serious injuries and was hospitalized at the same hospital where his wife died.
71-year-old Blanca Garcia was a backseat passenger in the Jeep. She was left with injuries described as serious and has been hospitalized at South Shore University Hospital.
The driver of the Jeep and 2 children sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center.
The driver of the Acura, 27-year-old Christian Lopez, was left with minor injuries. He has been charged with driving while impaired.
