Wentzville Missouri Police Shooting Death of Johan Quintero – Obituary

22-yer-old Johan Quintero has died in a fatal Wentzville, Missouri Police shooting that occurred on Thursday, October 7, 2021. It happened at about 2 a.m. when an officer stopped an SUV that was speeding. The driver, Yeffrith Rivera, of Greenville, parked the vehicle at the gas station and when the officer got closer, he smelled marijuana. A second officer spoke to the driver while the first walked to the passenger side of the SUV.

The first officer then saw Johan, who was sitting in the backseat, reach for his waistband which had a gun. A struggle for the weapon ensued until the officer stepped back and opened fire at Johan.

Although officers administered life-saving procedures until emergency medical personal arrived, Johan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Yeffrith and a female passenger, Olivia A. Combs, of Greenville, said they were transporting marijuana.

The officer that opened fire has been placed on administrative leave as investigations proceed.
