Masury Mahoning Co. murder-suicide shooting death of Kyle D. Nicholson and Diana M. Rice of Masury – Obituary

The man who was killed following a homicide-suicide shooting on Friday, April 15, 2022, has been identified, according to Brookfield police. Kyle D. Nicholson, 34, was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the shooting at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital. Diana M. Rice of Masury was the person shot by Kyle.

His death was deemed a suicide by the Mahoning County Coroner’s Office. According to authorities, Nicholson’s residence is 542 Syme St., a duplex in Masury, approximately a block from the Pennsylvania border.

Diana M. Rice, 34, of Masury, died at Sharon Regional Medical Center following the shooting at the same home. Rice died as a result of a gunshot wound to the inside chest, according to Mercer County Coroner John Libonati.

According to police, they responded to a call reporting a verbal domestic altercation between the two. According to witness testimonies and a video, Nicholson shot Rice in her car before turning the pistol on himself. Nicholson had been at Rice’s house for up to four months. According to investigators, Rice had two boys, aged 13 and 10, who resided with her. Rice’s family are caring for both youngsters, according to authorities.
