According to authorities, the man who was shot and killed by police in Chisholm on Wednesday was armed with knives. 38-year-old Michael David Johnson has been named as the man killed in a fatal Chisolm police shooting on Wednesday, April 20, 2022.
According to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), 38-year-old Michael David Johnson left his Chisholm house “with knives in his hands” when he was murdered in a shootout involving two St. Louis County Sheriff’s officers and one Virginia Police Department officer.
According to a news statement from the BCA, Deputy Cody Dillinger of the sheriff’s department and Virginia officer Nick Grivna both shot their firearms, while Deputy Gavin Nichols of the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office fired “non-lethal foam impact bullets.” All three police officers are on normal administrative leave.
