Linn County train crash death of Rodney Lundy of Springfield – Obituary
Linn County Sheriff’s Office investigators are looking into the death of a man, Rodney Lundy, who they say was hit by a train near Harrisburg on Friday, April 22, 2022.
The Linn County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center got a complaint of a train hitting an automobile on Cartney Drive near Highway 99 east, north of Harrisburg, around 9:33 p.m. on Friday, April 22nd.
Deputies arrived on the site and discovered that a 1996 Pontiac Firebird, driven by 65-year-old Rodney Lundy of Springfield, had come to a halt on the tracks after colliding with a freight train going north.
Lundy was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities.
According to witnesses, Lundy was standing outside the halted vehicle when the train collided with it.
