St. Petersburg shooting death of Jamar Jones – Obituary
In a series of three gunshots around the city within an hour of each other, one adult was murdered and five others, including four adolescents, were injured. The man who was killed in the fatal Fort Mahone shooting has been identified as Jamar Jones.
According to Deputy Police Chief Emanuel Chambliss, the spree began at 8:45 p.m. in the parking lot of an office building on Fort Mahone Street, directly outside the Petersburg School Board offices.
Jamar Jones, 30, of Petersburg, was found with a gunshot wound to the head and was transferred to Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, where he died.
Shots were fired about 10 minutes later at a home in the 200 block of Holly Hill Drive in Petersburg’s Oakhurst area. Four persons were shot but survived: one guy and three adolescents aged 11, 12, and 16.
