Brunwood Drive shooting death of Larry Dontaye Joyner – Obituary

At 4:41 p.m., police were called to the 1100 block of Brunwood Drive to investigate a fatal shooting that caused the death of a man identified as Larry Dontaye Joyner . The shooting occurred after Larry Dontaye refused to go the shops for the suspect, identified as Randolph Eugene Smith.

When they arrived, they discovered that the suspect had fled the scene in Larry’s vehicle while he was still inside.

Randolph Eugene Smith, 39, was brought into jail without incident, according to Florence Police Capt. Mike Brandt. Randolph was captured after officers located the car he had taken near Jefferies Creek Park.

Larry Dontaye Joyner, 37, of Florence, was identified as the victim by Coroner Keith von Lutcken on Sunday morning. He died on the spot.

Investigators discovered that Smith contacted his neighbors as they were returning home and requested them to go to the shop for him, according to Brandt. After his neighbor denied the favor, Smith reportedly shot Joyner, who was still sat in the vehicle.
