Columbus OH pedestrian-car crash death of Naimo Abdirahman dies – Obituary

Just after 2:40 a.m., an accident occurred near Morse Road and Northowne Boulevard that left Naimo Abdirahman dead. The vehicle that hit Naimo, identified as belonging to officer Demetris Ortega, left the scene of the accident.

The family informed 10TV’s Richard Solomon that Naimo Abdirahman, 25, was returning home from a walk. She was crossing the street when she was struck by a car, which then fled the scene.

Medics were dispatched to the site, but despite aid being rendered, Abdirahman was declared dead at the scene.

According to sources, the car involved in the collision belonged to Officer Demetris Ortega and was not a police cruiser. Later that day, he was removed of duty.

Police have not stated who was driving the car, and as of Sunday evening, no charges had been filed against the officer.

According to the police, the event is still being investigated.
