Auburn police officer Michael Smith arrested in fatal Seattle pedestrian-car crash

According to the Seattle Police Department, Auburn police officer Michael Smith was detained Saturday, April 23, 2022. The fatal wreck happened in the night when Michael Smith struck and killed a pedestrian in Seattle’s Interbay area.

According to the Auburn Police Department, the 33-year-old suspect was identified as off-duty Auburn police officer Michael Smith.

Smith was not on duty at the time of the vehicular murder at the junction of 15th Avenue and Gilman Drive.

Smith was immediately placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal inquiry.

They discovered that the suspect was traveling at a very fast pace northbound on 15th Avenue West.

He lost control of his automobile after passing another vehicle just south of Gilman Drive West and drove up onto the sidewalk, where he struck the pedestrian.

The fatal incident remains under investigation and more details will be made available
