The youngster who died in a two-vehicle rollover crash near the Gordon/Murray county boundary on Monday night has been identified as Cody Garrett.

According to a Georgia State Patrol public relations officer, the youngster was Cody Garrett, 4 years old. According to rescue personnel, four more people were critically hurt.

According to emergency personnel, one adult and one kid were flown to AdventHealth Gordon, while three children were flown to the Children’s Hospital at Erlanger by Life Force air ambulance and air medical transport. Three planes were dispatched to the site.

The Georgia State Patrol Post 43 in Calhoun responded to the collision at 5:49 p.m.

“The preliminary investigation suggests that a Dodge Caravan heading north from Old Highway 411 failed to stop at the stop sign and went into the path of a Chevrolet Express van traveling west on GA 136, causing the Dodge to be struck on the passenger side,” according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Following the collision, both vehicles exited the route through the west shoulder. The Dodge collided with a utility pole. Its driver and three children… were seriously injured and were flown to nearby hospitals. The driver is the children’s mother. “(One) youngster died as a result of injuries received in the collision.”
