West Covina car crash death of Evelin Salas Melgoza – Obituary

22-year-old Evelin Salas Melgoza has died in a fatal West Covina car crash that occurred on Wednesday, April 25, 2022. The accident happened on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in West Covina ostensibly and was caused by a teen suspected of DUI.

Officers from the California Highway Patrol were dispatched to the westbound 10 Freeway just west of Azusa Avenue at 12:02 a.m. Wednesday, where they discovered three damaged automobiles involved in the incident, one of which was on fire.

Melgoza had stopped her 2019 Nissan Sentra in the No. 1 lane due to heavy traffic, and a Rancho Cucamonga man had stopped a 2007 Ford F-350 in the No. 2 lane when Noe L. Manzanarez, 19, of Palmdale, drove a 2002 Toyota Camry at a “unsafe speed for changing traffic conditions” and crashed into the back of the Sentra, causing another vehicle to collide with the pickup.

Melgoza was declared dead on the spot.
