KAY COUNTY, OKLAHOMA – Three University of Oklahoma students were murdered Friday on Interstate 35 after their automobile hydroplaned and was hit by a passing semi-truck, according to officials.

Nicholas Nair, Gain Short, and Drake Brooks were identified as the crash victims by troopers.

Investigators suspect the three was driving southbound on I-35 near the Kansas state line when rains made the roads treacherous and their automobile hydroplaned.

According to an OHP press release, the car got incapacitated and was hit by a semi-truck.

The kids were stuck in the car for more than five hours, according to first responders, before rescuers were able to extract them from the twisted wreckage, but all were declared dead at the site.

The crew of OU meteorologists was in Kansas pursuing severe thunderstorms in the central portion of the state hours before the collision, according to video.

Following the news, fellow storm chasers flocked to social media to express their condolences and condolences to the deceased’ families.
