Azle police shooting death of George Gordon III – Obituary
During an escalating altercation in Azle, police officers used “less lethal choices,” which resulted in the death of a man.
Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Boyd Road at 7:30 a.m. in response to a report of a “white guy with a knife who was making threats.”
According to the announcement, officers confronted the subject and sought to deescalate the situation. The guy charged authorities while holding a knife in his hand and refusing to obey directions.
Officers employed “less-lethal methods” to deter his advances, according to authorities. The announcement did not specify the less-lethal equipment.
The suspect was given first aid and sent to the hospital, where he died later. George Gordon III, 28, of Azle, was identified as the male.
