Azle TX police shooting death of George J. Gordon II – Obituary
AZLE, Texas (AP) — A 28-year-old man died after officers from the Azle Police Department utilized “less lethal methods” to take him into custody on Sunday morning.
Officers were dispatched at 7:30 a.m. to the 700 block of Boyd Road for a guy with a knife who was “making threats.”
Responding officers attempted to “de-escalate the situation,” but the guy, identified as George J. Gordon II by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office, approached the cops with the knife in his hand, according to police.
Gordon did not cooperate with officers’ directions, so officers employed “less lethal methods” to take him into custody, according to police.
Azle police did not disclose the nature of Gordon’s injuries, but officers offered first aid until EMS came.
Gordon was brought to the hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries.
