Kokomo Indiana shooting death of Jaylen Reed – Obituary
KOKOMO, Indiana — After his 17-year-old brother died from gunshot wounds in an Indianapolis hospital on Saturday, a 14-year-old boy was arrested in Kokomo and faces a potential murder charge.
Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Rainbow Circle, off Lafountain Street on Kokomo’s south side, shortly after 3:30 p.m. to investigate a report of a person shot.
Officers discovered the 17-year-old, Jaylen Reed, with two gunshot wounds. According to Kokomo police, he informed investigators that his 14-year-old brother shot him and then fled. According to KPD, Reed was subsequently airlifted to Indianapolis, where he died as a result of his injuries.
Police apprehended the younger brother about a mile away from the gunshot location and arrested him without incident.
