Torrey Pines shooting death of Johnny Ildefonzo Punzalan and Joshua Manzanares – Obituary
A 19-year-old Lake Elsinore man was identified as the second passenger killed in a crash through a guardrail off North Torrey Pines Road on April 25.
Johnny Ildefonzo Punzalan, 19, of Lake Elsinore, and another passenger, Joshua Manzanares, 19, of the same city, were flung from the Subaru WRX they were travelling in after the driver lost control.
The automobile was traveling south on North Torrey Pines at Carmel Valley Road soon before 11 p.m. when it collided with the center median, smashed through a railing, and plummeted down an embankment to Torrey Pines State Beach.
Two other passengers, all aged 18, were seriously injured.
Police reported at the time of the incident that the 19-year-old driver, who received minor injuries, was suspected of driving under the influence.
