Riverside car crash death of Samantha Nieves of Summit – Obituary

On the night of April 30, a lady was pronounced dead and four people were injured in a dramatic accident between a Chevy Malibu and a GMC sports utility vehicle on First Avenue, just south of Waubansee Road in Riverside.

According to Riverside Public Safety Director Matthew Buckley, the other four persons injured in the incident all had non-life threatening injuries. Samantha Nieves, 23, of Summit, was a front-seat passenger in the Chevy Malibu and died as a result of her injuries.

According to Buckley, the collision happened at 8 p.m. According to Buckley, the Chevy Malibu carrying Nieves and the driver was traveling northbound on First Avenue. At the time of the incident, the GMC vehicle, which was carrying three individuals, was going southward.

Both vehicles were severely damaged, and Nieves, who was stuck inside the Chevrolet, had to be extricated by firefighters from Riverside, Lyons, and McCook. Ambulances from Lyons, Berwyn, Brookfield, North Riverside, and the Pleasantview Fire Protection District arrived to the incident site and took patients to Loyola and MacNeal hospitals.
