Lawrence stabbing death of Bobbie Hill – Obituary
According to court documents, a man suspected of killing his stepfather in Lawrence has been charged with murder after police claim a home security camera showed him stabbing the 74-year-old many times “immediately” after his stepfather entered the front door of the residence.
Lawrence police officers were called to a residence in the 12500 block of Teacup Way just after 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Dispatchers reported the initial 911 call came from a guy who stated he “needed help” with his stepson.
According to a preliminary probable cause affidavit, authorities discovered a guy, subsequently identified as Eric Futrell, standing in the driveway with blood on his hands near a huge knife on the ground. Police discovered 74-year-old Bobbie Hill inside with several stab wounds.
Hill was taken to a hospital by emergency responders, where he eventually died.
When cops arrived at the residence, Futrell, 47, asked for a lawyer and did not say anything else, according to police.
