Hyde Park shooting death of Jamie M. Feith – Obituary
HYDE PARK, NEW YORK —Jamie M. Feith, a 34-year-old Hyde Park woman who was armed with a knife, was shot and killed by a Hyde Park police officer. The shooting happened on Friday, April 29, 2022 when officers were attempting to deescalate a domestic situation at a North Cross Road house.
Jamie M. Feith, 34, was declared dead at the scene after being shot by one of the Hyde Park police officers who attended to a violent domestic altercation at the apartment about 3:30 p.m. Friday. According to a news statement, state police were dispatched to help.
Officers Joshua Kemlage and Bryan Sweeney from Hyde Park, together with state Trooper Christopher Miller from the Rhinebeck barracks, were initially successful in deescalating a violent domestic between Feith and a man in the property.
However, while the cops were interviewing Feith, she armed herself with a knife and attempted to attack them, according to state police.
According to the news statement, a Taser was used in an unsuccessful attempt to “neutralize her.” Kemlage then shot Feith with his department-issued weapon, according to the report. According to authorities, officers seized the knife and provided immediate medical assistance.
They didn’t disclose where or how many rounds were fired at Feith.
