San Diego car crash death of Ahmed Mazin Salah Alrawi and Suad Alsamari – Obituary
SAN DIEGO, CA — Officials have identified two back passengers murdered after their minivan was hit by an airborne truck in San Diego’s Midway District on Saturday.
Ahmed Mazin Salah Alrawi, 23, and Suad Alsamari, 81, were declared dead at the site of the incident, which occurred soon after 9 p.m. near the junction of Rosecrans Street and Sports Arena Boulevard, according to a report issued Monday by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Alrawi and Alsamari were both traveling in their family’s Toyota Sienna, which was stopped at a red light. That’s when a high-speed westbound motorist in a Toyota Tacoma “drove over a raised gore point, cycling lane, and transition lane, then struck a raised median.”
The Tacoma was thrown into the air as a result of hitting the median, and it collided with the Sienna, leaving a mound of devastation in the junction and causing traffic closures that lasted into Sunday morning.
