Pittsburg car crash death of Tyson Knerr of San Pablo – Obituary
Tyson Knerr, 33, of San Pablo, was killed in a motorcycle accident at 9:50 p.m. Saturday. He was driving east on the freeway near the Railroad Avenue exit in Pittsburg. He died on the spot.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Knerr lost control of his Yamaha R-6 and was flung off the vehicle.
Knerr’s deadly crash was the first of two that occurred around 26 hours apart. At around 11:50 p.m. Sunday, a 21-year-old front-seat passenger in a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser lost control while driving east near Highway 160 in Oakley.
Authorities were still withholding his identify early Friday, claiming that his closest relatives had not been told.
The CHP reported they detained a 42-year-old woman on suspicion of DUI, but a representative for the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office confirmed Friday that the woman has not been charged.
The driver was one of four persons hurt in the accident. Her injuries were potentially fatal. Authorities have not released an update on her status, citing regulations prohibiting the public broadcast of a person’s medical details.
According to the CHP, two more backseat passengers, both under the age of 18, were seriously injured in the incident. According to the CHP, a third adult backseat passenger received critical injuries.
