Cass County MI car crash death of Robert Sass – Obituary
Robert Sass, 67, of LaPorte. has been identified as the person killed in a fatal Cass County MI car crash that occurred on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in La Grange Township.
Around 3 p.m., the Cass County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the incident on Dailey Rd., just north of Pokagon Highway.
Officials said initial responders discovered two automobiles that had collided head-on. Curtis J.W. Mengel, 28, of Warsaw, was the driver of one of the vehicles. Robert Sass, 67, of LaPorte was identified as the second driver.
Both drivers were transported to hospitals for treatment with serious injuries. Sass later died from his injuries at the hospital.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and airbags did deploy.
At this time, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash which remains under investigation.
