Potomac River death of Johnathon Bobby Dale Tichinel – Obituary

WESTERNPORT — Authorities were awaiting toxicology findings Wednesday to establish the cause of death of a Keyser, West Virginia, man whose corpse was discovered in the Potomac River near Westernport on Sunday.

The Allegany County Combined Criminal Investigation Unit identified the victim as Johnathon Bobby Dale Tichinel, 22. His corpse was sent to Baltimore’s Maryland State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Kayakers discovered Tichinel at 4:30 p.m. near the Upper Potomac River Commission waste treatment plant on First and Fourth streets.

“It seemed that the corpse had been in the water for some time,” officials stated in a statement. “At that time, no clear evidence of trauma that would have caused death were noticed.”
