Jim Cole has been identified as the person killed in a fatal Jacksboro Tenn. plane crash that occurred on Monday, August 29, 2022.
The National Transportation Safety Board has issued its preliminary findings following a jet tragedy at Campbell County Airport that claimed one life over a month ago.
Around 12:50 pm, members of the Campbell County Emergency Management Agency and deputies from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported plane accident. on Aug. 29.
Just after noon, a single-engine Aeronca 7AC crashed close to Campbell County Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Only the pilot was on board, according to the spokeswoman. Jim Cole, according to WVLT News partner LaFollette Press, was named as the man.
According to the NTSB report, Cole’s companion informed investigators that he bought the plane the day before the incident.
Additionally, the acquaintance said Cole was on his first flight in 20 years and only intended to “take it up for a fly.”
According to investigators, the companion said that the plane took off “very early,” made a “sharp” left turn, and then descended beyond the tree line. The companion made a police call at that point.
