Fatal Desert Hot Springs motorcycle crash death of Cheryl McCoy – Obituary
In a tragic incident near Desert Hot Springs, a 68-year-old woman, Cheryl McCoy of Phoenix, Arizona, met her demise after sustaining severe injuries in a motorcycle mishap. The Riverside County coroner’s office identified her as the victim.
The unfortunate event unfolded on westbound Interstate 10, close to the Palm Drive exit, as per the report received by California Highway Patrol at 11:24 a.m. last Thursday.
The ill-fated journey involved a 63-year-old man and Cheryl McCoy, both aboard a green Harley-Davidson motorcycle towing a small trailer, cruising at approximately 70 mph.
According to CHP Public Information Officer David Torres, at a certain juncture, the man executed an unsafe maneuver to the left, losing control of the motorcycle, which subsequently overturned and collided with the freeway’s center divider.
The violent crash ejected both riders from the motorcycle, resulting in them sustaining significant injuries. They were quickly transported to Desert Regional Medical Center for medical attention. Tragically, Cheryl McCoy succumbed to her injuries at 12:58 p.m. on Thursday, according to officials from the coroner’s office.
