Obituary: Fatal Pueblo car crash death of Florencio Delgado Cordero
Tragedy struck in Pueblo as a single-vehicle accident claimed the life of Florencio Delgado Cordero, a 45-year-old resident. The Pueblo Police Department is currently probing the incident, exploring the possibility of speed and alcohol as contributing factors.
The unfortunate incident unfolded on a Monday morning when law enforcement responded to a distress call regarding a motor vehicle collision at the 1500 block of Northern Avenue. The vehicle had collided with a house, resulting in occupants becoming trapped within the wreckage.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered four individuals with varying degrees of injuries. Regrettably, Delgado Cordero was declared deceased at the accident site.
According to the investigation conducted by the Pueblo Police Department, the occupants of the vehicle had attended Fiesta Day at the Colorado State Fair prior to the crash.
While heading eastward on Northern Avenue, the driver lost control, leading to a collision with a power pole, a fence, and a substantial tree. The impact caused the vehicle to overturn.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office remains engrossed in an investigation concerning an August 26 crash in Pueblo West.
This unfortunate event resulted in the loss of three lives, including 56-year-old Marie Quintana and her 12-year-old grandchild, both hailing from Aurora, as well as 48-year-old Denver resident Jesus Guerrero Lopez.
At the scene, sheriff’s deputies ascertained that a 2017 Honda CRV, traveling northward on Purcell Boulevard, had been struck head-on by a 2015 BMW 550, which was originally traveling south but had veered into the northbound lane of traffic. This information was relayed in a news release by the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.
The driver of the BMW, the sole occupant, a 32-year-old man, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the 10th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, is actively pursuing the investigation. However, an official decision regarding charges has not been reached at this time.
