Custer, South Dakota death of Michael Congrover and Donna Champeau – – Obituary
The community mourns the fatal car crash death of Michael Congrover, 67, and Donna Champeau, 74, hailing from Wisconsin. It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to these individuals, both of whom were conscientious enough to wear helmets at the time of the accident.
According to the initial accounts of the collision, the sequence of events unfolded at the intersection of Washington Street and U.S. Highway 16A in Custer, South Dakota.
At this juncture, a 2017 Subaru Outback came to a halt, dutifully abiding by a stop sign. Concurrently, a 2022 Genuine Scooter Company Buddy moped was journeying eastward on U.S. 16A, drawing nearer to Washington Street.
Tragically, fate took a cruel turn as the Subaru Outback abruptly maneuvered in front of the oncoming moped, leading to a catastrophic collision.
The moped bore the brunt of the impact, striking the front driver’s side of the Outback, resulting in the dislodgment of its hapless occupants, Michael Congrover and Donna Champeau.
Remarkably, the driver of the 2017 Outback remained unscathed, a testament to the protective power of her seatbelt.
At this juncture, the South Dakota Highway Patrol has embarked upon a rigorous investigation into the incident. However, it is imperative to underscore that all information currently disseminated is preliminary in nature and remains subject to comprehensive scrutiny as the inquiry unfolds.
