Fatal Randolph County train collision death of Tristan M. Fullenkamp – Obituary
In a tragic incident on Saturday morning, Tristan M. Fullenkamp, a 26-year-old resident of St. Henry, Ohio, lost his life when his vehicle crossed paths with a moving train.
The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call reporting the collision involving a train at approximately 8:10 a.m. Multiple emergency response agencies swiftly converged on the scene, located on County Road 400 East, at the railroad crossing just north of County Road 100 North.
Following a thorough investigation, it was determined that the driver of a 2004 Ford F150 had come to a halt at the railroad crossing on CR 400 East while an eastbound train passed by.
Tragically, after the eastbound train cleared the crossing, the driver proceeded southward onto the tracks, directly into the path of an approaching westbound train, resulting in a devastating collision.
Tristan M. Fullenkamp was trapped inside the wreckage and had to be extricated from his vehicle. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital, where, regrettably, he succumbed to his injuries.
The circumstances surrounding this heart-wrenching incident are currently the subject of an ongoing investigation.
