Fatal Salt Lake County mid-air collision death of Joshua Ellison – Obituary
Tragedy struck on Tuesday evening at the Salt Lake County Flight Park as Joshua Ellison lost his life in a devastating mid-air collision. Initially, authorities reported one fatality and a single injury, but the situation quickly unfolded into a more dire scenario.
At 5:22 p.m., the Draper Police Department and Draper Fire Department rushed to the scene, where they discovered three victims in the primary parking area of the flight park.
This harrowing incident involved a hang-glider, piloted by one individual, and a paraglider, which had a pilot and a passenger onboard. While the hang-glider’s pilot was initially believed to have received treatment and been released, it was later determined that they had been transported to a nearby hospital with severe injuries.
Tragically, Joshua Ellison, a 44-year-old man, succumbed to the collision upon impact, leaving a void in the hearts of those who knew him. The passenger of the paraglider, a 30-year-old woman, faced a critical situation, necessitating her urgent transport to the hospital via helicopter.
This grim accident serves as a stark reminder of the risks inherent in such recreational activities and the fragility of human life. Joshua Ellison’s untimely passing is a profound loss to the community, and our thoughts go out to the injured as they face a challenging road to recovery.
