Fatal Lumberton Shooting Claims Life of Ebony Spruill – Obituary

Lumberton authorities have apprehended a 17-year-old suspect in connection with a recent fatal drive-by shooting. The suspect’s identity remains undisclosed due to their status as a minor but faces charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder.

The incident, leading to these charges, transpired on October 15 at the ATEX Convenience Store located on South Martin Luther King Drive in Lumberton.

Upon responding to the scene, Lumberton police discovered that two individuals had sustained gunshot wounds in the store’s parking lot as a white sedan cruised past. Both victims received immediate medical attention and were transported to a local hospital.

Tragically, 23-year-old Ebony Spruill, one of the victims, succumbed to her injuries on Monday. The second victim has since been released from the hospital and is currently in the process of recovery.

The teenage suspect now in custody is being held in a juvenile detention facility, and further charges are anticipated in this ongoing investigation.
